What will you be learning?

Using internationally recognised learning techniques, our experienced tutors will support learners in gaining a practical understanding of GHG inventories, project-level emission reductions, and the principles of verification and validation.

Beneficial prior knowledge:

  • A basic understanding of environmental management or sustainability concepts is helpful.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards, carbon foot-printing, or environmental management is beneficial but not essential.

  • Understand and apply the principles of GHG accounting for organisational inventories (ISO 14064-1).
  • Define organisational and operational boundaries for GHG reporting.
  • Identify and quantify emissions and removals from direct and indirect sources.
  • Develop and document GHG reports with a focus on quality, transparency and accuracy.
  • Plan and implement project-level emissions reductions or removals (ISO 14062-2)
  • Understand the requirements for credible carbon projects including baselines, additionality and leakage.
  • Apply verification and validation techniques to GHG statements (ISO 14064-3).
  • Prepare for third-party verification by understanding materiality, risk assessment, and levels of assurance
  • Communicate findings through clear and structured verification reports.
