Customer Background
Founded by Karl Jackson, Global Event Technology (GET) specialises in designing and delivering technology solutions for the events industry. Despite being a relatively small business in terms of permanent employees, GET works with large, highly professional organisations across a range of projects and events.
As Founder and CTO, Karl is responsible for overseeing the business and designing its technology solutions, while Lewis Gladstone-Buchanan, Project Manager, helps coordinate and deliver both long-term contracted work and individual customer projects.
With ambitions to continue growing, the team recognised the importance of implementing scalable processes and systems that would support quality, consistency and continual improvement across the business.
The Challenge
As GET expanded its operations and worked with increasingly demanding customers, the business recognised the need to formalise its ways of working.
While many processes already existed, they were largely tailored to individual team members and lacked the structure and consistency required to support long-term growth. At the same time, customers increasingly expected suppliers to demonstrate the same commitment to quality, professionalism and environmental responsibility that they did themselves.
The business saw certification not simply as a compliance exercise, but as an opportunity to create a stronger operational foundation.
“Even though we are a small company in terms of permanent employees, we work with some large and very professional customers that expect GET to work to the same standards they do.” – Global Event Technology
GET wanted a framework that would help standardise processes, improve visibility across projects, manage risk more effectively and provide confidence to both existing and prospective customers.
The Solution
To support these objectives, GET pursued certification to ISO 9001 for Quality Management and ISO 14001 for Environmental Management.
The team began their journey with self-learning before bringing in external expertise to help implement systems and processes that were appropriate for their business and aligned with the requirements of both standards.
ISO 9001 provided the structure needed to strengthen project delivery, improve process management and support sustainable growth. Meanwhile, ISO 14001 enabled the organisation to better understand and manage its environmental impacts, an important consideration for a business that relies heavily on travel, resources and temporary event infrastructure.
ISOQAR was selected as the certification body following strong recommendations and a reputation for maintaining rigorous standards while working collaboratively with clients throughout the certification process.
“ISOQAR came highly recommended as a body that ensures the quality standard requirements are adhered to while also working with clients to highlight areas that need to be addressed.”
The Outcome
Certification has delivered a number of immediate benefits across the business.
One of the most significant improvements has been the standardisation of information management and project reporting. The introduction of more structured processes has given the team greater visibility over project status, strengthened risk management and increased awareness of quality requirements throughout the organisation.
The certification process also created valuable opportunities for collaboration and discussion, bringing the team together to review existing ways of working and identify opportunities for improvement.
Key benefits achieved include:
- Improved control and consistency of information
- Greater visibility of project status and outputs
- Enhanced risk management processes
- Increased awareness of quality requirements across the business
- Stronger environmental oversight and continual improvement initiatives
- Greater credibility with customers and stakeholders
Beyond the internal benefits, certification has helped GET build trust with customers from the outset.
“It enables GET to start conversations with prospective and existing customers on the front foot, as they know they will be working with an organisation that is striving to improve standards for all parties.”
Although certification is still relatively recent, the business has already seen barriers removed when pursuing new opportunities, helping to strengthen its competitive position in the market.
Looking Ahead
GET sees ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 as important foundations for future growth.
The business remains focused on expanding its product offering, delivering additional value to existing customers and exploring emerging technologies that could unlock new markets.
The immediate priority is ensuring the standards become fully embedded within day-to-day operations and are used to support continued growth and improvement.
For organisations considering certification, GET’s advice is to begin by taking an honest look at how the business currently operates.
“Before starting certification, have a deep dive into how you currently operate so that you really understand what you do now. This will make the appetite for change a collaborative effort, which greatly enhances the chance of success throughout an organisation.”
When asked to summarise the value of certification in a single sentence, the team explained:
“ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 add value by strengthening GET’s operational consistency and environmental performance, enabling efficiency, reducing risk impacts, and improving customer and stakeholder trust.”
