Supporting Men’s Health Through ISO 45001 Certification with ISOQAR

General

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has launched a Call for Evidence to help shape England’s first-ever Men’s Health Strategy, expected by the end of 2025. With this in mind, businesses have a crucial role to play in supporting positive health outcomes for men. Certification to ISO 45001 is one way to make a tangible impact.

The Men’s Health Challenge

Men in England continue to face significant health challenges, including:

· Higher rates of cancer

· Cardiovascular disease

· Type 2 diabetes

· Mental health issues and suicide

· Substance misuse

While these are complex, multi-faceted issues, the workplace plays a pivotal role in influencing health behaviours, providing early intervention opportunities, and promoting overall wellbeing.

How ISO 45001 Supports Better Health Outcomes

ISO 45001: Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems is the international standard for creating safer, healthier working environments. By achieving ISO 45001 certification with ISOQAR, organisations demonstrate a proactive commitment to improving both physical and mental health in the workplace which is directly supporting the aims of the upcoming Men’s Health Strategy.

ISO 45001 helps businesses to:

· Reduce health risks through structured risk assessments and safer working practices

· Promote healthier behaviours through targeted wellbeing initiatives

· Support mental health by fostering a culture of openness and prevention

· Address health inequalities with inclusive, data-driven approaches

These principles align with the government’s objectives to tackle critical health inequalities, promote early detection of life-threatening conditions, and reduce risk factors such as smoking, obesity, alcohol misuse, and poor mental health.

Have Your Say and Contribute to England’s Men’s Health Strategy

The Call for Evidence is open now and runs until 17 July 2025 for most submissions, with British Sign Language responses accepted until 15 August 2025.

The strategy will focus on:

· Supporting healthier behaviours

· Reducing smoking, obesity, and substance misuse
