Heather Deering, Health, Wellbeing & Engagement Partner at the Morson Group tells us; Morson Group believes that the health and wellbeing of our colleagues is key to organisational success and sustainability, with the promotion of good health being crucial to attracting, retaining, and nurturing the best talent. We have had an organised approach to employee wellbeing since 2016, and our understanding of its crucial nature was exemplified by the creation of our Health, Wellbeing & Engagement Partner role in early 2019. With this position, we became the only known recruitment business of our size to have resource solely dedicated to the improvement of employee wellbeing. We have since regularly surveyed our colleagues to understand their thoughts, feelings, and priorities in relation to wellbeing. That data has been used to create a wide-ranging programme of events, interventions, benefits, support options, and activities that proactively and reactively support wellbeing and won Recruiter Investing in Talent Award for Most Innovative Benefit 2019.
We decided to get PAS 3002 certified to ensure that we continue to align ourselves with best practice in workplace health and wellbeing.
Here at Morson Talent, we understand the value and benefits an integrated management system provides, which explains why we’re certified to the following standards; ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 27001 (Information Security). In addition we’re now proud to add PAS 3002 Health & Wellbeing code of practice to our portfolio of standards.
Therefore, we’re delighted that mental health is becoming increasingly spoken about in society, but in past years there has been a stigma around the topic, especially in workplaces. We have worked hard to create a culture where health and wellbeing is spoken about openly, and where our people feel comfortable to make disclosures about their wellbeing – mental, physical, or otherwise – if they wish to do so. We have achieved this through constant open communication. Having the confidence to stand up and be heard when experiencing an issue takes enormous courage, and here at Morson we wanted to ensure that everyone had a voice. We continually seek feedback on all initiatives and communicate on changes that have been influenced by our colleagues through our ‘You Said, We Did’ campaign.
The certification evidences our longstanding commitment to health and wellbeing, demonstrating clearly to potential clients and candidates that we are an attractive organisation to work with and for. The standard also provides a framework for us to work to as we develop our health and wellbeing activity. This gives us a solid reference point for our future initiatives, ensuring these are evidence-based while remaining tailored to our business and the needs of our colleagues.
Alcumus ISOQAR, Lead auditor, Michael Donald added; PAS 3002 shares many common elements with ISO 45001 making it easy to integrate into their existing management system structure. With ISO 45001 already in place, plus the addition of PAS 3002, the system now provides a robust health and safety culture that focuses on the needs of their employees, helps reduce stress (including stress related illnesses) and absenteeism in the workplace. With health and wellbeing becoming more topical in recent times, especially in light of the pandemic, Morson’s implementation of this code of practice clearly demonstrates their commitment to the health and wellbeing of their employees.
Heather continues; Alcumus ISOQAR continue to provide excellent professional certification services to Morson. Morson Group and ISOQAR have a strong, long standing relationship which is critical to the organisations aspirations for continual improvement in all areas of the business.
Alcumus ISOQAR have provided continuous, professional certification services throughout. We have been impressed with the commitment that Alcumus has shown to their clients. To find out more about what the Morson Group do, check out their website at: morson.com.
